Abstract Submissions - March 4-6, 2025

Conference days of March 4th-6th will consist of concurrent sessions, including a limited number of oral sessions. Oral sessions are an opportunity to present innovative research and insights on climate change and health. Sessions are designed to highlight work that pushes the boundaries of current knowledge and practice. Presentations should spark dialogue and engagement across the climate and health community.

We strongly encourage submissions by graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, trainees, and early-stage investigators. Specialized Student & Trainee Showcases will be curated into the conference schedule, which will include “Best in Session” awards. Brief feedback will be provided after conclusion of the session (Student & Trainee Showcase only). Please note: Student & Trainee Showcases will be reserved for current students and postdocs only.

The conference will not have separate poster sessions at this time; posters can be presented during oral sessions.

Abstract Format:

  • Objective: Clearly state the purpose of the abstract. Briefly describe the objectives of the study unless they are contained in the title. How does your research add to existing knowledge?

  • Methods: Outline the methods you used to conduct your research. How did you collect your data? How did you process your data?

  • Results: In three to four sentences present your results in a logical sequence via text ONLY. State findings in sufficient detail to support conclusions.

  • Conclusion: Up to four sentences discussing results. Emphasize new and important aspects of the study (perhaps as a discussion section) and the conclusions that are drawn from them.

Oral Presentation Requirements:

  • Oral presentations should be no longer than 15 minutes. This includes a 12 minute presentation time with 3 minutes for answering questions from the attendees. CAFE conference organizers will assign presentation spots within sessions based on theme, or if you’ve indicated interest in being part of a student showcase.

  • Slides or poster format will be accepted as valid forms of presentation.

Abstract Submissions are not intended for:

  • Conference Sessions - longer (60-90 minute) sessions intended for the general conference audience. See instead conference sessions.

  • Workshops or discussions designed for a limited or restricted group of people.

  • Excessive self-promotion in such a manner that does not serve the climate and health community.

Abstract proposals are due January 17th, (23:59 EDT). Abstract applicants will be informed of tentative acceptance (or rejection) and scheduling no later than the beginning of February. Acceptances are tentative, pending confirmation from the speaker of the assigned presentation slot. CAFE reserves the right to initially accept an abstract but deny it from the final schedule if facilitators do not provide final details or updates in a timely manner.

  • All abstracts must be submitted online through the abstract submission form by January 17th (23:59 EDT). Abstract applicants will be informed of tentative acceptance (or rejection) and scheduling no later than the beginning of February.
